Competitor's Live Reaction

Shortly afterward, the team's competitor Lawson communicated to his race engineer saying: "Is this for real? Did you witness that? I could have... killed them"

"I honestly couldn't believe what I was observing"

"I rejoined with a new set of hards, and then I approached Turn One and suddenly there were two individuals dashing across the track"

"I came close to striking one of them, truthfully, it was extremely hazardous"

Security Issues Highlighted

"Evidently there's been a miscommunication at some point but I've never experienced that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's absolutely inexcusable"

"We fail to grasp how on a live track safety personnel can be authorized to just dash across the track in such a way. I have no idea why, I'm confident we'll get some sort of explanation, but it really can't happen again"

Official Investigation Underway

Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, is currently investigating the circumstances

"Following a turn one incident, the race directors was advised that fragments were located on the track at the apex of that corner" commented the regulatory authority

"In the third rotation, safety personnel were informed and made ready to enter the track and clear the fragments once all cars had passed"

"The moment it was realized that Lawson had made a pit stop, the directives to deploy personnel were canceled and a safety warning flag was shown in that area"

"Our inquiry continues what happened following that moment"
